On May 28, 2025, the Dominica Geothermal Development Company Limited (DGDC Ltd.) welcomed a delegation from the Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue (CCLD) to its geothermal project site in Laudat. The visit was part of the CCLD 2025 program, which brings together 100 emerging leaders from Canada and the Caribbean for cross-sector experiential learning focused on ethical leadership, sustainability, and innovation.
During the visit, DGDC’s Safeguards Specialist, along with representatives from ORMAT Technologies Inc., provided insights into the development and environmental safeguards of Dominica’s geothermal power project. The delegation engaged in discussions on renewable energy, sustainable development, and the project’s potential impact on Dominica’s energy landscape.
The CCLD 2025 program, under the patronage of HRH The Princess Royal and chaired by Wes Hall, aims to foster leadership and collaboration across the Commonwealth. Following the opening plenary in Canada, delegates participated in study tours across various Caribbean nations, including Dominica, to explore local challenges and solutions.
DGDC extends its best wishes to the CCLD delegation in their future endeavours and remains committed to contributing to sustainable energy development in Dominica.
